Let’s make some art!

Warm up:

Before you start your artwork warming up is really important just like when you work out. You need to stretch your muscle a little so it will be flexible.

Even when you are just a beginner before you do the actual art, you can do this exercises So your fingers will be more flexible when you actually draw doodle or illustration something. I’m basically a traditional artist but these warm-ups goes for both traditional and digital artworks; Now, let’s get right into it.

1. Straight lines:

Try to do it until you feel confident.

Start slowly and gradually increase the speed as you feel like you are getting better. This will save you from wavy lines while drawing.

2. Curves and swirls:

The curves and Swirls helps you draw a neat bends in your artwork. They are mostly used in calligraphy. If you guys are interested in calligraphy practising swirls will help you make a flawless swirls as you practise it.

3. Shapes:

Shapes are seen in almost everywhere around us. This is used widely in urban sketching and also in all other art works because there is always some shapes which are included in your drawing, so practising this will help in making the right angles.

4. Circles:

Now that’s a tricky one, When we draw the circles roughly in a page it’s never perfect but we should try and complete the circle and try again. And draw it in a different sizes first go in clockwise direction and then in anticlockwise. Make circles until you are confident with it.

5. Ellipses:

Maybe you didn’t notice before but look there are lots of ellipses around you; Bottles, Lamps, windows and many more, if you see the circle from the different angle a little it will look like an ellipse that’s because it’s always a small simple things which is going to make a big difference.

There is always a mid line to the ellipses so draw the line 1st with whatever size you want then draw the ellipse around them in different sizes depending on the objects now it’s just a warmup so you can make a different size of lines and you can draw the ellipse around them.

6. S-shape:

When you draw figures, even in landscape there is S shapes but by practising it we can draw them without being edgy or shaking because the S figures are in most drawing is really important that it should be elegant.

Try doing S shapes in different ways possible; Let your hand flow with the shape, Stop giving pressure without reason; just flow with it and draw a mirror images of S too.

7. Pencil pressure:

It’s really wonderful how are different pencil pressure can change the whole work into something totally different that we should know where to give the pressure and where not to and now just try different shapes and curves by giving different pressure types, vary the pressure along the way you draw and that’s it, there we go!

8: Spheres:

This Spears help you make your 2-D drawings come alive. In drawing character drawing, portraits or anatomy drawings, this will be the base on how it will be the base on how it should be or will be. We could say it gives life to the art.

  • Draw circles or ellipses
  • Draw perpendicular lines across the circle as a base.
  • Draw a curved line over the line according to where it should be facing.

9. Cylinder:

The shape of cylinder could be seen in lots of things around you like bottles, pipes, tubes, etc. Just look around now you might find at least one or two object lying there.

Now let’s start drawing it. Draw two lines and connect it with the ellipses at the top and bottom edges.

10. Cubes:

Cubes are also another tricky one to if you try drawing for the first time. Once you get the grasp of how it works you will get it. Draw two squares or rectangles along side and connect them together and there you go it’s a cube.
