The color theory is an art of using colors. To learn how to match them and about how to use them together in any field of work, because colors are everywhere, in art or product or building, it is how we can attract people.

Colour theory is very basic and must learn because we need to know how colors are important in art in order to use it. Color is an element of art. The colors are going to give life to art, we can do a lot of things with color that is gonna make a big difference in art so the colour theory is a very basic thing before you go into learning the art.

Color wheel

A color wheel or color circle is an organization of color hues around a circle, which shows the relationships between primary colors, secondary colors, tertiary colors etc

Color Wheel

There are three parts in color wheel. They are

1. Primary colors 2. Secondary colors 3. Tertiary colors.

1. Primary colors:

Red, Yellow and Blue- These are the primary colors. This is called Primary colors because these cannot be mixed or formed by any combination of other colors and all the other colors are derived from these colors.

2. Secondary colors:

Green, orange and purple- These are the secondary colors. These colors are formed by mixing the primary colors.

3. Tertiary colors:

There are six colors in tertiary colors which are formed by mixing primary and secondary colors.

Rainbow:

Rainbow has both primary and secondary colors.

Warm and cool colors:

The color wheel or circle which are divided into warm and cool colors.

Warm colors:

The warm colors are vivid and energetic and tend to advance in space. Warm colors are often said to be hues from red through yellow, browns and tans included.

Cool colors:

The colors gives an impression of calm and create a soothing impression. Cool colors are often said to be the hues from blue-green through blue, violet, most grays included.

White, black and grey are considered to be neutral.

Monochromatic colors:

Containing or using only one color.

Monochromatic colors are all the colors of a single hue.

These are derived from single base hue and extended using its shades, tones and tints.

Tints, Shades and Tones:

These are simple color concepts. If a color is made lighter by adding white, it is called tints; by adding black, it is called shades; by adding grey, it is called tones.
